Each semester, the Energy Initiative offers a limited amount of funding to help energy-focused clubs and other student organizations develop events and projects that benefit the larger community of energy students at Duke. Requests for proposals are issued at the start of the fall and spring semesters. 

In 2020-2021, projects may be eligible for up to $1,000 in funding. We seek to encourage interaction and collaboration among Duke's energy clubs and students, so make sure that your proposal includes opportunities for students outside your organization. Other criteria:

  • The activity must be student-led and energy-related.
  • The activity must include an educational component (i.e. the Energy Initiative will not fund activities that are strictly social).
    The activity must be conducted in accordance with all relevant Duke University guidelines, including but not limited to COVID-19 precautions.

Examples of past funded activities include:

  • Research projects
  • Speaker events
  • Mentoring events
  • Tours/trips
  • Film screenings
