Federal and state leaders gathered at Duke University on Wednesday for an all-day summit focused on boosting the clean energy economy in the United States. "The question is 'How do we bridge public and private investments to move the needle from billions to trillions and meet our climate goals?,'" Ronnie Chatterji, a professor at Duke's Fuqua School of Business, told WRAL News. "I hope the conversations today will help to do that."

The Climate TRACE coalition has created the world's largest inventory of greenhouse gas emissions using satellite remote sensing data and machine learning algorithms to identify and estimate emissions sources. Kyle Bradbury, director of Duke's Energy Data Analytics Lab, spoke with Green Building Advisor about Climate TRACE's efforts to develop high-resolution modeling for emissions from buildings.

Speakers at “From Billions to Trillions” on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the Fuqua School of Business will offer insights on how recent legislation will impact and stimulate private green investment. The Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS Act and the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act have provided an influx of federal funding to advance the transition to clean energy and help communities adapt to climate impacts.

An executive order signed Monday by North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper launched an ambitious initiative to conserve and restore the state's forests and wetlands, reports Coastal Review. The course is part of a wider effort to create guidelines for decision-makers on governing small-scale fisheries by a coalition, including Duke University.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper issued an executive order Monday to permanently conserve and reforest North Carolina’s wetlands and to plant urban trees, activities that could replenish 3 million acres by 2040, reports NC Newsline. "The order’s ambitious goals for land conservation and restoration will preserve and enhance the many benefits North Carolina’s natural and working lands provide to everyone who lives in or visits the state," said Katie Warnell, senior policy associate at the Nicholas Institute.
