Interested in energy but don't know where to start?  Duke University's Energy Boot Camp will quickly get you up to speed on energy basics, key terms, and trends.  We'll dispel the jargon (ever heard of the "duck curve" or "stranded assets"?), talk about the big picture of how energy is produced and consumed, and touch on some of the industry's hottest topics (blockchain, anyone?).  You'll leave feeling more interested in this dynamic sector and more prepared to talk with energy industry professionals at networking events this fall.

There's so much interesting material to cover, we need two sessions!  Students are encouraged to attend both sessions, but it's also okay to sign up for only one or the other.

  •          Session 1: Sept. 20, 6:00-7:30pm – Overview of the global energy landscape, energy production (including oil and gas), and energy policy dynamics.  Led by professor Lori Bennear.
  •          Session 2: Sept. 24, 6:00-7:30pm – Intro to electric power, utilities, renewables, and emerging energy technologies (storage, smart grid tech, EVs).  Led by professor Tim Johnson.

These sessions are open to any Duke undergraduate or graduate student.  Snacks & beverages will be available between 5:30-6:00pm; presentations will begin promptly at 6:00pm.  Join us!
