Please join us in welcoming Josh Margolis (T' 81), Managing Director of Environmental Markets in the Climate program at Environmental Defense Fund. Over the course of his 35+ year career Josh has provided policy analysis, market assessments, emissions brokerage services, environmental credit regulation evaluation/development, and simulation services to stakeholders that administer, advise on, or are subject to cap and trade programs. He has provided capacity building assistance to stakeholders involved in the launch of China's original seven pilots and the national carbon market.
Josh also leads EDF's efforts to develop and deploy CarbonSim, an experiential learning carbon market simulation tool that demonstrates that outcomes are a function of market design. He has worked closely with Mexican, Chilean, Korean, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and Canadian stakeholders to adapt CarbonSim to suit their needs, delivered simulations at universities in the US and Mexico, collaborated with the International Energy Agency to deliver a simulation for China's major power producers, and executed a flare consents simulation for a North Sea oil producer. Josh is a co-inventor of a patent that provides for the neutralization/offsetting of equities.
